I am a Junior at Trinity High School. I am an honors student, both a Highsight and Madonna scholar, and a prominent member of my school's Junior Council. I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. I plan on attending a four-year university in either Georgia, Minnesota, Louisiana, or California. I plan to major in Criminology and become a lawyer in the future.

Personal Statement

As an African American youth in the city of Chicago, the recent years have made me both terrified and give me a sense of loneliness. I think it is time for our block clubs, our neighborhoods, and our cities to rise up and protect our youth. It has been hard to see and hear of children my age dying each day due to gun violence and senseless people. While I am only one person I know that parents and families such as those of Blair Holt and Kiyana Salter are behind me in the fight for a safer Chicago. There should not be parents burying their 15, 16, and 17 year old children. I would love to walk outside my door and not fear getting shot. I would also love to not worry about my friends, family, and boyfriend who make their way on public transportation every day. Just recently my cousin and her husband were shot in a City owned building in broad daylight. I think it is time these sensless crimes are ceased and it is time for our youth to band together no matter what school, race, or side of town. It is time for a safer Chicago!
