I am a 48 year old single mother who has had to bury my only daughter 2 weeks before her prom.

School(s) Attended

Holy Family Academy Loop College

Place(s) Worked

Cub Foods Roberto Clemente High School

Personal Statement

I have worked at Roberto Clemente for 14 years. Through those years I have come to bury alot of students due to gun violence. You are never prepared enough to bury another child in the community. Especially when I lost my only daughter 2 weeks before her prom. She wasn't killed by a gun but by a friend who snuck her into a nightclub and ended up killing my daughter and a friend and another friend was left crippled. Our children are dying out here. It is so hard to get the message across. I feel as if we are fighting a losing battle with so many of our children dying. Working at a High School has given me a little edge to speak with the children about their lives and the decisions they make I really would like to join forces with your organization to help save our youth. Otherwise we have no future out here.
