On May 10, 2007, 16 year old BLAIR HOLT, lost his life due to a senseless act of gun violence, while traveling from school on a public bus. Four other students were violently shot and injured during the same horrific incident. All were the unintended targets of another youth’s violent approach to, rather than, communicating verbal mediation towards conflict resolution.

Mission Statement  Edit

The INCREASE the PEACE Campaign officially began on Saturday, April 26, 2008 at Mount Calvary Baptist Church, 1257 W. 111th Street in Chicago, Illinois. The INCREASE the PEACE Campaign is designed to RAISE MONEY for existing, positive, effective youth programs and to RAISE AWARENESS about the senseless violence that is taking place in our cities. It is our belief that when youth are active and involved in these programs, they will be safer and fewer will be idle, allowing for negative things to happen.

It's good to see "Religious Leaders" take a stand for what's right. I believe that through Prayer, Fasting, and Developing a Strategy we could raise more then One Million Dollars. Call me when you need assistance, Shalom and Agape!

Please let us and others know what we can do to help stop these senseless shootings. The deaths of Blair Holt and now Kiyanna Salter are tragic. What can I do to help?

"Magic bullet" is the wrong metaphor, on so many levels, to apply to solutions to Chicago's violence epidemic.  Each intervention -- smarter policing, neighborhood watch, providing after-school activities, stronger parenting, getting guns off the steets, reducing violent culture, and giving young people hope for their future -- takes no more than the proverbial bite out of crime.  Any successful strategy needs to be comprehensiv

I never imagined equating the interfaith movement with the iphone. . . . Or inter-religious peace-building with the Nike swoosh. But alas, there we were at the Interfaith Youth Work Conference, deep in conversation about what we could learn from our corporate counterparts. I used to believe that all things marketing or advertising were evil and the only thing the corporate world could teach us in the activist world was how not to care about the environment or our employees.
